Going Through Hell

Location

"The Region" ( Valparaiso , Gary , Hobart ) Indiana

Date

2021-2022

As a little bit of a preface, I took all of these pictures on the side of the road, but why? Well, that’s because I wanted to focus on the stories we learn and create on the road. More specifically, while driving. Right now, we can get into a car whenever we want and go wherever we want. We can create our own story. As we make this story going from point A to B, we tend to see things we focus on while driving. These items we focus on can tell us about our environment, how people interact with it, and maybe even something about ourselves. Why do we focus on these objects instead of other ones? Maybe they invoke some sort of feeling; maybe there’s an understanding we have with the objects. Looking back on my work, there is a clear theme. Of broken, worn down, abandoned, and maybe even morbid subject matter. This story isn’t a happy one but remember. There is never one way to tell a story. Just like there is never one path to a destination. The story depends on the turns you make and the things you see. This is just the story I’ve decided to tell. This is the story of a boy and his car, going through hell.
